Why you shouldn't use the "Other Guys"

Clint,

I had "the other guy" do a conversion (I'm embarrassed to admit). Here's some feedback for you about the other guys: Apparently they didn't drive the truck but around the block? When I got the truck back, the truck ran just long enough to get it off the truck and barely made it into my driveway. Checking things out the battery connections were never even tightened (just laid over the terminals). I wish I had known about you guys.

The main issue - rear end [was] unable to recover from bumps in the road (uncontrollable bouncing) - if you tried to talk while driving at certain speeds, you literally could not speak without each word having 20 syllables. It looks like the forward spring mount seems to be different than a stock long bed. They are going to try to move this mount to see if the bouncing stops. "The other guy" says this problem has never occurred. When I e-mailed and called him - he wanted me to take pictures of my truck undercarriage and could not remember what year my truck was (he had just worked on it weeks before). He made no effort to resolve the problem.

Also the emergency brake seems to be jacked up. It seems to get tighter the more times the pedal is depressed. Just looking at the wheel wells in relation to the tires - seems that one side is different than the other [axle is not centered!] Hopefully whatever happens you can take the other guy's name off the frame.

I read Diesel Power and saw your write up - after I got my truck back from the "other guys."

Thanks, Curtis

After sending us this email, Curtis paid to have his truck shipped to us to have it fixed. Sadly Curtis found out first hand that it's not worth saving $500 to have "other guys" do work on your truck.

When Curits's truck arrived we called in the engineer that inspects all our conversions to evaluate the condition of the truck. The engineer determined that the "precision" work was unsafe and unsalvageable.

So now the conversion experts, that's us, are going to do it the right way. We are currently replacing the frame to fix the truck. When all is said and done Curtis will have a Mega Cab Long Bed Truck that even the boys at Chrysler Corp would be proud of.
