Mega Cab Long Beds
So, you need a truck that has the room and comfort of a mega cab AND the hauling power of a Dodge, but don't want to sacrifice the versatility of a long bed. Here's the problem: you can get one or the other, but not both. Dodge does not make a mega cab long bed (and according to Chrysler Corporate, has no plans to do so).
The solution: Make your own. Sound crazy? Not to us.
Buying a mega cab with a short bed doesn't make sense if you have serious work to do. At Innovative Customs we can take your mega cab and make it a long bed, whether you prefer a fleet side or a dually. Drive the truck you really need without sacrificing a thing. After all, size does matter.
The bottom line is if you can dream it we can build it. We won't tell you it can't be done. As you can see, we're already doing it.
Some people may be a little skeptical about cutting trucks in half and then welding them together. We can definitely understand that. That is why at Innovative Customs we provide a full warranty for all our work. You can be confident that your vehicle will be bigger and better than when you brought it in.

Mega Cab Long Bed FAQs
- Does the conversion void my factory warranty? No. Your factory warranty will remain. The only items that will not be covered by Chrysler are the items that we alter with the conversion; driveline, brake and fuel lines and frame. We warranty those items for the life of the truck.
This is what the law says about your factory warranty.
US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)). For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/warranty.shtm - If I live 1000 miles away, how do you handle warranty issues? We know that it is unrealistic for anyone who lives out of state to bring their truck back to us for a small warranty issue. In the 1 warranty issue that we have had (in over a year), we simply had the customer take the vehicle to a local shop of their choosing to have the issue remedied. We then paid the bill in full...no questions asked.
- Is the towing capacity of my truck affected? No. The splice procedure that we use meets or exceeds DOT and the manufacturer's (Chrysler) specifications for altering a frame. Our splice pieces are twice the thickness of the stock frame. In addition, we add a cross member for more strength. We will guarantee that your truck will still be capable of towing what it was rated for from the factory although, some will say that with a longer wheel base that you can tow more
- Can I install aftermarket accessories after the conversion? Absolutely. We have installed just about every aftermarket accessory that you could think of. All factory and aftermarket parts will work with our conversion (unlike the competitors). You will simply be ordering parts for a long bed. No doubt, you will get some funny looks when you go to your dealership and order parts for a Mega Cab Long Bed.
- What kind of bedliner is sprayed in the new bed? The product we use is "Turbo Liner". It is most like "Line X". We prefer this product because of how flat and uniform it sprays along with its durability. It is also 100% Poly, which resists fading.
- Do you splice my brake lines? No. Unlike the competition, we know that splicing brake lines is not recommended, not to mention unsafe. We replace the stock brake line with a custom built, one piece, stainless steel brake line. We have a company that builds them for us, they are CNC bent to exactly match the stock bends. So you don't need to worry about your brake line looking like a spaghetti noodle that someone hand bent and zip tied in place.
- Why should I bring my Mega to Innovative instead of the "other guys"? To answer this simply-because we are the best. Anyone who is going to spend good money to have their $40-$50 thousand dollar truck cut in half should do their homework and really look at who they are trusting with not only their truck, but the safety of their family and others on the road. Just ask the "other guys" if their work is certified or better yet, if any of their "fabricators" are even certified welders. I challenge anyone to go look at the competition's work, then come look at ours. If you choose to go with the competitor, we will pay for your flight or fuel cost! We are that confident that our work is superior in quality to that of anyone else who thinks they can do a Mega Cab Conversion. Why are we so confident? Simple, we have seen the competitors' work-and fixed it!
- How long does the conversion take? Most conversions take only 3 business days to complete. How can we do it that fast without compromising quality? We have the beds ready before you drop off your truck and we have all of our parts preassembled. So that when your truck arrives there is no time lost.
- Just how long are they when they are done? Not as long as they look. A completed truck is 22'6" long. Compare that to a Crew Cab, long bed Ford that is only about 6" shorter.
- Why doesn't Dodge build a mega cab long bed? Chrysler will not build this truck for one reason; dollars. Let me explain. The Mega Cab's frame is the same as a Quad Cab Long Bed, the only differences are the bed mount locations, the cab mount location and the fuel tank mounts. It is not a coincidence that the difference in length of a short bed and long bed is the exact same as the difference between a Quad Cab and a Mega Cab. It makes sense financially for the manufacturer to use an existing platform. To develop a new frame for the Mega Cab Long Bed it would cost millions and take years. The cost of research, development, engineering and testing compared to revenues from the small number of sales of that truck simply doesn't make sense.
- I've heard that Dodge is not going to offer a Mega Cab in the 09 model trucks? That depends on what truck you are talking about. The Mega Cab will no longer be available in a 1/2 ton, but will continue as one of Chrysler's best selling trucks in the 3/4 ton and 1 ton chassis.
- What is done with my short bed? The short beds are traded in to our suppliers, and then we pay the balance for the new long bed.
- What else can you do to my truck while it is in your shop? Name it! We are a full service custom shop. Meaning that while we have your truck we can do any of the following: Any suspension work including air ride systems, air bags, lift kits, performance suspension systems, chips, exhaust, intakes, turbos, transmission upgrades, hitches and towing accessories, wheels/tires, custom bumpers, winches, custom leather interior, in-dash and overhead DVD players, Navi units, back up cameras, all chrome or billet accessories, tint, tool boxes, oversized fuel tanks and just about anything else you can think of.
- What are the accepted payment methods? Cashier's/bank checks, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and of course Cash
- Do you offer financing? We will have an in-store financing option available later this summer (probably by July). This program will be available through Wells Fargo. With a simple online or in-store application, we will be able to offer up to 12 months interest free! Imagine getting everything you want done to your vehicle and having a full year, interest free to pay for it!
